Abstract

The objective of this paper is to discuss Jacques Lacan’s conception of the object, assuming that the concept has undergone important changes in the course of theory – especially since the early 1960s – a fact that limited, in a way, the discus- sions that link art and psychoanalysis , in particular with regard to contemporary art. Thus, it is assumed that the return of Lacan’s main influences to the surrealist way of treating / thinking about objects may be one of the possible means for the continuity of aesthetic debates.
