No. 6 (2003): Anguish and symptom

View No. 6 (2003): Anguish and symptom

In founding the French School of Psychoanalysis, Lacan performed a solitary act driven by the analytic cause—equating this inaugural moment to the analytic act itself, which shapes, organizes, and reorders institutional ties and the work among analysts. This foundation aimed to restore the incisive truth of Freudian psychoanalysis, stripping analysts of any prior guarantees derived from established bodies of knowledge and calling them to an ethical imperative: that of subjecting their entire personal endeavor to the scrutiny of both internal and external critique. Thus, the psychoanalytic institution took on the status of a "School"—conceived as a formative experience inseparable from the duty to publish and the rigorous critique of its own output.

This 6th volume of the journal *Stylus*, themed "Anguish and Symptom," celebrates the creation of the School of Psychoanalysis of the Lacanian Field Forums, which is legally supported by the Association of Lacanian Field Forums. By committing to subject analytic praxis to verification and critique, this publication reaffirms the responsibility to uphold the scientific dimension and the foundations of psychoanalysis before the community and the public sphere.
