Abstract

This article presents two conferences given by Marc Strauss, as guest of the FCL-SP’s “The sexed body of the parlêtre” seminar, that happened in 2006. Herein, the author exposes the relations of the subject with the imaginary, the symbolic and the real dimensions of the body, through the human sexual difference, which is necessarily inscribed by the phallic significant. The author comments Freud’s (1913) article “Infantile mental life: Two lies told by children”, showing the relationship between sexuality and the fundamental fantasy, and Lacan’s “The direction of the treatment and the principles of its power” (1958), where he points out the actualization under transference of the unconscious sexual reality. The author also compares Lacan’s formulas of masculine and feminine desire, presented in “Remark on the Report by Daniel Lagache: ‘Psychoanalysis and the structure of personality’ (1960) with those appearing in Lacan’s 20th seminar, “Encore” (1972-1973). As a conclusion, Marc Strauss states that analysis touches the part of sexuality that is related to the significant apparatus and, thus, as an increase to the analytical cure, there happens a facilitation of sexuality, less limited, then, to the unconscious phantasmatic repetition.
